DAKRED's Debut Album Is a Bass-Fueled Diary of Heartbreak and Healing

Every great album tells a story, and for DAKRED, that story is his own.
The rising DJ and producer has released his self-titled debut album, a project he’s calling his most personal work yet. Fusing melodic bass and dubstep, DAKRED serves as an intimate reflection on love, heartbreak and self-discovery, charting the emotional highs and lows of his 20s.
“After years of evolving as an artist and a person, I realized that this album is my story, and it deserved to be self-titled,” said Dakred. “It captures the chaos, the beauty, and the lessons learned along the way.”
Structured like a diary, the album takes us through the stages of a fractured relationship, exploring the turbulence of young adulthood and the resilience found in the aftermath. DAKRED says he was deeply inspired by Alfred Lord Tennyson’s famous words, “It is generally considered better to have experienced love, even if it ends in loss, than to have never loved at all.”
An undeniable highlight comes with “Ready for Love,” a track that marks a turning point in DAKRED’s narrative. Here, he produces an aching future bass track that moonlights as a declaration of newfound strength. Another standout is “Never Going to Be the Same,” which encapsulates the album’s coming of age through soaring synths and heartfelt lyricism.
Elsewhere in DAKRED, the album takes a menacing turn in “Illumination,” where Jacob Lauing’s existential vocals weave through growling dubstep drops. “Transformation” is another compelling pivot into darker territory, with screeching bass and lilting vocal chops. lighting the way.

The 2025 edition of HARD Summer is scheduled for August 2-3. Two-day GA, GA+ and VIP festival passes will be available on Friday, March 7th at 10am PT.
